Andrea Wiebe Counselling

About

Hello, my name is Andrea Wiebe! I am an Emotionally Focused Therapist and Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). I completed my Master of Social Work at the University of Toronto in 2013 after completing my Social Development and Bachelor of Social Work degrees at the University of Waterloo. I have a passion for working with individuals, couples and pregnant and parenting people struggling with mental health and relationship challenges. I have several years of experience in individual, couples’, and family counselling with clients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds at various not-for-profit agencies since 2013. I began Andrea Wiebe Counselling in the summer of 2019 with the goal of focusing my work towards helping: couples struggling to feel connected to one another, pregnant and parenting people facing new unexpected challenges and mental health concerns, as well as individuals with past trauma fighting to survive in an increasingly disconnected and individualistic North American culture. In my practice, I take a holistic approach to understanding how mental, emotional, physical, social, spiritual and environmental factors impact each person/relationship. The main theories that influence my approach are: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT). I seek to provide my clients with holistic counselling services that empower them to: feel connected and secure with their partner; communicate effectively with others; have confidence in themselves to navigate parenthood, problem solve in a safe and non-judgemental way; increase understanding of the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours; live in the present moment; improve self-esteem; reduce stress; improve coping skills; feel increasingly hopeful; recover; and, ultimately, live joyful and meaningful lives. I believe that, at some point in our lives, we all can benefit from speaking with someone who can help empower and motivate us to reach our goals and successfully navigate through the inevitable difficulties of life.
