Katie Padron

I began working with women and adolescents transitioning into motherhood 12 years ago. It is a time that can be filled with joy and trepidation, expectation, loss, grief, a new kind of love, sadness , anxiety, wonderment, depression, and so many conflicting experiencing and emotions. What is for sure, it was never meant to do without support. I am trained in Infant Mental Health, the coming along side of mothers, parents, and caregivers to support healthy attachment with their babies. I have received advanced training, have been greatly involved in Grand Rapids' community PMD, and have 12 years experience in working with women with adjustment and postpartum depression, anxiety, bipolar, OCD, trauma/birth trauma, and psychosis. You will find that therapy with me is deeply rooted in building a relationship and concepts of nurturing the mother's wellness to support development of mom building her capacity to be well enough to blossom into the best version of herself to feel confident in her new role as a mother, even if this is not her first child. As a children’s and family therapist, working with the whole family is an important part of the work I do. When it’s needed, I want to make sure we are getting resources, support and therapy for everyone.
